About ISO/TS 16949:2002 standard
ISO/TS 16949:2002 is a technical specification which forms the requirements or essentially the application of ISO 9001 for automotive production and relevant service part organizations. This standard is required by the large automotive industry manufacturers such as Ford (12/14/2006 deadline), GM (12/14/2006 deadline) and DaimlerChrysler (7/1/2004 deadline) and others. ISO/TS16949 is essentially equivalent to ISO 9001 with additional automotive specific requirements.

This international standard is relevant to automotive production and service part organizations ONLY. ISO/TS 16949:2002 is the second edition. The first edition expired on December 15, 2003.
